A research facility for controlled cultivation.
Swift CEA is being developed on a repurposed farm in Swifterbant, the Netherlands, for controlled plant experiments, technology testing and cultivation research.
Our story
Swift CEA started from the need for a research environment in which the cultivation system itself could be changed rather than treated as fixed. We are developing the facility ourselves so that lighting, climate, sensing, irrigation and control systems can be adapted when a research question requires it.
What began as a shared interest in controlled environment agriculture is becoming a platform for our own experiments, collaborative research and external testing. The aim is to let the facility evolve with new crops, technologies and questions instead of forcing every experiment into one predefined production setup.
Control creates an experimental advantage.
Setting and reproducing light, temperature, humidity, CO₂, airflow, irrigation and other cultivation conditions makes it possible to isolate effects, study interactions and repeat trials under defined conditions.
The objective is not environmental control for its own sake. It is the ability to ask sharper questions about plant responses, cultivation strategies and technologies, and to compare the resulting evidence under known conditions.
